Meet Elina - our member of the month in July!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Elina. I am originally from Moscow, Russia. I am professional architect and now I am working as a freelance architect and interior designer.

What made you come to Berlin?
I moved to Germany almost 7 years ago for family reasons. The first half year I was living in Stuttgart and was learning the German language. However, I always wanted to live in Berlin since already then I thought it was a very interesting and dynamic city. What I really love about Berlin is that here you can find a lot of opportunities for art and creativity. Moreover, I was dreaming to work in a famous architect’s studio in Berlin and luckily they hired me. That’s how I ended up working at TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten for several years, which was a perfect start for my architectural career in Germany.

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I have graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute (State Academy) - MArchI is a famous architecture school which is located in Moscow, Russia. My specialisation was Architecture of Industrial Buildings. At the beginning I was working as an architect but later I changed my focus to interior design. Nowadays, I am working at public and civil projects design and architectural development. My current projects are the renovation of a hotel in Hannover, design and construction management of a private house and apartment in Berlin and Israel. Additionally, I am taking part in a tendering for an aparthotel in St Petersburg architectural project.

Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
I have been working here almost two months. I have noticed this office while I have been still working in another place in the neighbourhood.

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
I feel really good here. I like absolutely everything! I love people here, girls from reception, who are always ready to help and create this warm and friendly working atmosphere for all the office.

To be honest, its pretty challenging for me to make myself work at home, but here there is a perfect working atmosphere. Furthermore, I can meet with clients and contractors right in the office. Also, I live in 7 minutes drive with a bike from here and it’s a pure pleasure to have such a ride through my favourite Prenzlauer Berg after a hard working day.

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
I will be glad to help my co-workers with everything I can, private and professional.

Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
My Berlin is my Prenzlauer Berg. I really love this district and feel here at home. Of course I know almost all the cafes, concert halls and restaurants here in the neighbourhood. My personal highlight is a Saturday market at the Kollwitzplatz. Saturdays there already became my tradition! Life music, flowers, rose wine and a lot of delicatessen! I love cooking, so my afternoons at the market combine both buying fresh food and meeting with friends. So I highly recommend it to everybody and please feel free to join me if you wish!

Thanks a lot and all the best to you!
