Meet Katalin - our member of the month in October!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
Hi I am Kati. I was born in Hungary, grew up in Germany, have lived here and there and moved to Berlin a year ago.

What made you come to Berlin?
I was homesick for Europe after four years in the US and thought about where to settle down. After receiving a job offer from a German company, the "If Germany, then Berlin" credo decided it for me :)

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I am a forest engineer and environmental scientist working remotely for a small consulting company based in Freiburg: Unique forestry and land use. I try to convince big investors such as the World Bank and German development institutions to put serious money into sustainable land use across the globe. I travel a lot to meet these investors and to visit and advise on the projects they are implementing. This year I have been to Panama, Peru, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay and Kenya - but I seriously try to travel less :-P
In my free time I am an urban gardener and beginner nature poet. Check out my private blog here.

Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
Since October 2017.

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
It's better than to sit at home in your pajamas! I love the space, the friendly staff and the serene working atmosphere, all walking distance from my apartment.

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
How to live a greener life? What is the environmental footprint of the food we eat? Which coffee should I buy? Can you break down the palm oil controversy for me?
I can also tell you about the German forest and how to make your tomatoes survive on the balcony :)

Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
In the summer, definitely check out Eispatisserie Hokey Pokey for the best gelato in the area, just a 5 minute walk up Pappelallee from Office Club. For architecture buffs, I recommend a visit to the building complex I live in: Bauhaus Wohnstadt Carl Legien in Prenzlauer Berg. It's an off-the beaten track destination where real Berliners live in a UNESCO world heritage site. Café Eckstern is perfect for a rest.

Thanks a lot and all the best to you!
