Meet Jana - our member of the month in November!

Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
Hey everybody, I am Jana from Oberhausen in Nordrhein-Westfalen. It is located in the Ruhrgebiet also known as the Ruhrpott. I live in Berlin now for 10 years – quite a long time if I come to think about it now.

What made you come to Berlin?
After I graduated from high school I regularly visited Berlin because of friends who moved here. Therefore, after graduating from university and spending a year in Melbourne, I wanted to work and live permanently in Berlin. I got my first job here and on top of that, I fell in love.

What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I work as a content marketing manager for a cybersecurity company. I always had a thing for IT and technical contexts. It’s probably because I was very much influenced by my dad for being an engineer and my older brother, who was really into computers. My first love was an Amiga and Zac McCracken.

Since when do you cowork at Office Club Berlin Prenzlauer Berg?
I started this September.

What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
My actual office is in Adlershof – so it is a long ride to get there. And there is always something going wrong when you use public transportation in that direction. So it can take over an hour one way to get there. And since I have a little 15 months year old son, I prefer spending time with him and not with the fellow commuters on the S-Bahn. We live close to Office Club and the Kita is nearby as well. And since my employer gave me two home office days, the idea of working in a coworking space sounded appealing to me. It hasn’t disappointed me yet. I can actually focus quite well – in comparison to working from home. There, I get distracted too often. I think, the atmosphere at Office Club is really nice.

Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
First of all: I am always up for a conversation and a good laugh. Secondly, I can write content for your product - write it the way so your target audience can understand it. And last but not least: I can edit your videos or do some basic graphic stuff. Here is my homepage in case you are interested!

Do you have favorite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
There are quite a lot but let me start with food and booze: You should try the beef stroganoff at Pasternak, the oysters at Umami – both are located at the Wasserturm on Rykestraße. Best drinks are served at Victoria Bar in Schöneberg or Yard in Rykestraße. The best waffles with maple syrup, butter and salt are made at “Kauf Dich glücklich” on the corner Kastanienallee/Zionskirchstraße. Best smoothies with really nice service: The Juicery on Eberswalder Straße. Okay, enough with the food J My cultural highlights are Gedenkstätte Hohenschönhausen, Martin-Gropius Bau, Hamburger Bahnhof, Nationalgalerie (hopefully anytime soon), Maxim Gorki Theater, Berliner Ensemble and the newly renovated Staatsoper. If you need to relax, Vabali is the place to go. And if you want to feel like you are in another world, go see Britzer Gärten.

Well, I would have a million more things to recommend but I can go on when we see each other in person.

Thanks a lot and all the best to you!
