Meet Dorte - our member of the month in April!
Introduction round: Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Dorte and I'm originally from Denmark[nbsp]
What made you come to Berlin?
I came to Berlin as an exchange student 12 years ago. After my semester at university I wasn´t done with exploring those possibilities and challenges that living in Berlin brings. I've lived here ever since.
What exactly do you do? What's in the pipeline for the near future?
I run a language service agency. In a network of language professionals I offer a different range of text work, e.g. translations and text content consultancy for Danish and German companies. This part of work is done at Office Club. I also offer Danish language training for organisations around Berlin who have a specific Danish language learning need, e.g. the Foreign Ministry. This part of work is (mainly) carried out in the facilities of my clients. At Office Club I also develop the upcoming language services to be launched the next months and years to come. Some of them should be online some time this fall/winter.
Since when do you cowork at Office Club?
For some 3 years.
What is the benefit of using a coworking space for you?
There are a number of benefits. As many others who start their own company I worked at home the first couple of months. One of the benefits of working in a coworking space is that getting out of the living room and into the coworking space draws a clear line between work and private life and that´s very important to me. It also adds more seriousness to the project.
To me it's also a perfect frame for a business in growth in between the first start-up phase (working at home) and the stage where I get my own proper office up and running.
Which questions / problems could you help your coworking neighbour with?
I've helped and found help to solve a range of different language related issues. I also established good contact to a now former Office Club coworker from New York who´s also in the process of developing new services. We work in very different lines of businesses but that´s just an added plus when we exchange ideas and give feedback on each others work in progress.
Do you have favourite spots in Berlin? Something to recommend / consider especially for people coming here?
I enjoy exploring the food places in the city. Just last week I went to the restaurant Filetstück situated only a few minutes walk from the office in Schönhauser Allee. If any of you also belong to the part of the world population that can enjoy a good steak and a decent glass of wine, I recommend going there.

Thanks a lot and all the best to you!
